House of the Mad Wizard (minigame)
This is a minigame I created on Pleasant Junction SMP in October 2021. The player must explore the house in search of the Mad Wizard's diary entries, which are hidden throughout the interior. The player checks off entries as they find them in their logbook, and gains more information about the story of the Mad Wizard as they go along.
I highlight this example because it was a synthesis of narrative game design and level design in a way I thought was really fun. I voiced the introductory text, as well as all of the diary entries, and put them on youtube so the players on my server could have the story read to them for dramatic effect. There is a secret ending hidden in a diary entry that is most difficult to find, that leads the player to a secret location for the true ending prize.
